Bracelets have been trendy on men for a couple of years now.  But many butches have been slow to embrace the trend--partly because it's not always obvious how to do it right without looking like: (1) you plucked something at random from your little sister's jewelry box, or (2) you are under the mistaken impression that you're a famous rock star.

Plus, for a long time, go-to butch wristwear has been limited to huge leather cuffs.  Sure, these can be cool, but the look has kinda been done to death--at this point it doesn't add a lot of spice to your outfit.  So how do you rock a bracelet?  Here are three simple tips to get you started.
Picture
1. Don't be afraid of color.  There was a time when only girly-girls wore bracelets that weren't brown or black.  Thankfully, that time has passed.  Mosaic, multi-colored creations are not only acceptable--they're hot.

2. You'll have to spend more than $3. Bracelets are no longer accessories that you buy from a basket near the cash register.  They're more like watches or rings.  A light, durable metal (like titanium) can set you back $50 or more--but the quality will be solid.

3. Bracelets aren't just for casual wear.  After years of association with surfers and hippies, you might still think bracelets can only be worn with tees and jeans.  Nope!  A high-quality versatile bracelet like the one pictured, left, can be worn just about anywhere.

Bracelets can be every bit as much of a fashion statement as a watch or a necktie.  It might take a bit of looking to settle on some that fit with your personal style.  I've put 12 great, butch-worthy bracelet selections in the Butch Store to get you started.

I love my bracelets I just not really into colour , but then g/f brought one so as you do you put it on and think hmmm but once again she is right and she has good taste after all she is dating me , but my point is id rather have metal that has colour with it as no matter what Iam doing at working cement building I can just wash it off and looks great still

I've been into bracelets for a while, they are part of my everyday look, they can blend with all looks. I tend to wear the leather or bead types, I like the titanium types, but, I'm more a casual, boots, jeans, plaid kind of butch, I think they work better with dress shirts and ties. Nice choices BW:-)

I rock silver bracelets from my favorite silver store in Rehobeth, Delaware. Two different styles on each wrist. I also buy a lizard/gecko ear cuff that hugs my cartilage and looks like it's crawling up my ear. The problem is that I lose them a lot, but I think they're hot.

OK, so for us bracelet phobic butches, how do you wear these, and what do you do about your watch? Got to have my watch on so I don't turn into a pumpkin.

You can wear your bracelet with your watch! :) As long as they don't clash, it's completely fine. If one is all silver, it's pretty much impossible for them to clash (well, unless the other is all gold). Does that make sense? Let me know if you have a specific watch/watch question you're wondering about. :) BW

I think you can wear gold and silver, if you want to and look stylishly cool. Is "stylishly" a word? Anyhow, to me there really aren't any rules anymore! Your own common sense, whatever that is, is your guide. I remember telling my mentor that I really didn't like red wine at room temperature and she told me, "Honey, you can drink YOUR red wine any way you want." So, if you wanna wear gold and silver together---go for it.

I love bracelets and always wear one. The trouble I have is that all of the awesome men's bracelets are way to big for my very small wrist. I've taken to making them myself. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It would be nice to have more size options.
