This weekend, my brother (who is straight but metro, and can wear pleated pants with uncommon flourish) announced to me that one of his cats has come out of the closet. My brother sent me the rainbow-infused picture at left (the gay one's perched on the dresser). I was proud of the cat, and would like to think that as its aunt, I played a role in its conversio --er -- realization. My brother and me then brainstormed other ways to identify LGBT pets: Top Signs that Your Pet Might Be Queer
Special thanks to my hilarious brother for coming up with about half of this list! Do any of you have gay pets? How do you know? Do you feel like your own queerness helped or hindered their realization process?

My partner and I think that our dog and cat are gay (together) ... Our dog prances whenever he is happy and the cat he has a lil more sway in his walk on occasion. When the cat awakens from his daily ritual of napping for 10 hours he DASHES towards the dog and makes sure to rub allllll over him giving him many kisses.... kinda like in the movies the slow mo "OMG IT'S BEEN SOOOOOO LONG I'VE MISSED YOU." The cat will also cuddle and snuggle with our dog and its not just "oh hey, sup" its all HEEEYYYY! then the cat bats on the dog's ear.

My cat was out before I was...(I was still in a heterosexual relationship)...He loved other male cats! And would hiss at female cats...

My cats Linus is so gay! His meows are more "girly" than his sister, Lucy's! He is so affectionate & likes to cuddle more than his sister does! He particularly likes being around my male friends than my female friends. When my cats hear dogs barking or loud noises at night, Lucy (the smaller of the two) instinctively jumps on me to protect me & hiss at the unseen intruder, while Linus would just hide ubder the covers or under the bed! :D

My male cat, Shelby is totally gay. The first clue is well, his name. When I first got him, I was told he was a she, fell in love with the name, aaaand yeah. I figured, well, Shelby can be for both genders! Why not?!

My dog Pete is definitely a butch little girl. She will lift her leg to pee on bushes, she is constantly trying to hump the cat (girl cat). She lives up to her Boy name. Puppita just didn't fit her.

Ya know, I drop in here for a reason. Sometimes it's for the spirited debate, sometimes for comfort, to find like minded people, be compelled to do something, learn new ways to attire myself, and finally, to laugh my ass off!!!!

I'm super glad I found this blog! And on the topic of queer pets, seriously, everybody thinks my (male) dog is a girl. And I don't correct them, but I'll just use 'he' when referring to him rather than 'she' and people get So awkward. It's weird. Also, whenever we meet a female dog, that dog's owner is all like 'oh maybe he wants a girlfriend...ooooo" nobody talks about him wanting boyfriends, but his best dog friend is a boy and they are adorable together. Anyway.

I have totally queer cat, he's super camp and "presents" to his brother regularly as well as any male visitors who come to the house. He spends more time than any other cat I've ever seen on grooming his (long, lush, blonde) coat. Most people thinks its hilarious except for my sister who accuses me of "seeing fucking gays everywhere". Anyway, gay!Leo doesn't seem to care that his auntie is a bit of a homophobe so I don't let it bother me. I feel a bit sorry for my other cat though, the only vaguely straight in a house full of complete queers :)
