Are You Butch Enough for the OBGYN?

It's been over two years.  I know I need my annual exam.  But I had such a crappy experience last time that I haven't been able to make myself make an appointment.  I definitely need a new one, which means having to disrobe in front of a total stranger.  Ugh.

I know a ton of you are in the same boat, so here's my idea: let's butch up together.  It's super important for our physical health, and it will be a heck of a lot easier knowing that we've all got each others' backs.

Here's what you do.
  1. Make an appointment.  Now.  Get on Yelp, call a friend for a rec, whatever you need to do.  Just do it.  Here are some tips.
  2. Fill out the form below.
  3. After your appointment, I'll enter you into a lottery for some VERY cool BW prizes, including cufflinks, a T-shirt, and more.

So let's do this!  Are you butch enough to join me? (Genderqueer, straight, trans, whatever--ALL readers whose genitals warrant an OBGYN visit should participate.)

Don't expect a walk in the park. Just take your ativan (or borrow someone else's) and stirrup up. Handle your lady business like a grown up then get yourself a nice mixed drink afterwards.

I agree that this is a great thing to do -- thank you.

For anyone looking in Toronto, check out Hassle Free. Trans, queer & genderqueer positive. They have men's and women's clinic hours, but welcome all trans people in both times so you can come to the hours which feel best for you but still get tests appropriate to your bits.

BW, i think that it's great that you keep yourself accountable and promote health screening but "annual exam" is a total misnomer. For healthy women who have a history of normal paps, 3 years is now the recommended interval. Yes to screening, no to unnecessary torture!

However, this could be a good time to go meet a new ob-gyn and see if you click if you have other questions you want to talk about - and there will be no fear of the exam because you can tell her you're not due yet. (especially likely to fly if you bring record from your last pap).
